Artist’s Bio

I grew up in a small midwestern town where the only “culture” was Green Bay Packer football.  But I was always interested in art and seized every opportunity to draw and play with clay, paint, fiber, whatever.  Discouraged from studying art in college, I compromised by earning degrees in anthropology, a discipline that allowed me to dabble in graphic arts.  Despite having no formal art training, I worked as an archaeological illustrator for several years.  After retiring from a career teaching and practicing anthropology, I studied watercolor and acrylic painting with local artists, then moved on to oil painting under the instruction of Bill Fletcher.  I’ve also completed workshops with Roger Dale Brown, Kathleen Hudson,  Eric Johnson, Lori Putnam, Robert Sandford and Jason Saunders.  Working with the members of Artists’ Attic and the Plein Air Painters of the Bluegrass has provided a community of sharing that has enhanced my learning.
